Health Screening

At Manoir Bichons we first and foremost consider the health and future of this breed.
All our bichons have been health screened for genetic eye disease (Cataracts and PRA) as well as patellar luxation.  Most bichons sold to show homes have also been screened and those that have been to Scandinavia and USA have additionally had hip testing.

Whilst bichons are generally considered a healthy breed with no requirements from the Kennel Club to carry out testing, I believe that it is better to be safe and sure.  Certain genetic defects can lie dormant for several generations therefore it is impossible to know whether a dog is a carrier of an undesirable gene but with regular testing of all my bichons it is the best I, or anyone else, can do to help keep our breed healthy.
